Healing Good News for Arthritis |
A mighty ocean is made up of drops of water. A great healing chi-field is made up of individual healing stories. Every healing story is a story of love --the love of oneself and others through ups and downs. Every healing story is a story of triumph -- the triumph of one's spirit over one's temporarily setback. Life is no guarantee. We love life as it comes.

ARTHRITIS My Aunt Saved Me Ms. Wang became sick when she was thirty-eight years old. She had low blood pressure, and a slow heart rate of forty beats per minute. Because her heart wasn't supplying enough oxygen to her brain, she was dizzy most of the time and tended to faint easily. In addition, she couldn't squat down or bear the touch of cold water because of arthritis in her joints. In short, her life was miserable. "I was angry at myself and the world. Why me? I would lay awake at night feeling frustrated. There was nothing I could do to alleviate my pain except to take more and more drugs." "Nothing you could do? With so many people exercising in the parks, why didn't you join them?" "It might seem strange to you, but I was trapped in my own small world, thinking my illnesses were unique to me. When the doctors told me that I should have plenty of rest and take medicine on a regular basis, I followed their advice faithfully. Exercising, even gently, would rob me of my resting timeI wanted to live!" "So why did you change your mind and seek an alternative way of healing yourself after fifteen years of taking medication?" "My aunt opened my mind. When she was first diagnosed with liver cancer, I felt sorry for her. But then only a few months later, I was surprised to see my aunt. Instead of a skeleton lying in a hospital bed as I had last seen her, she was a healthy, spirited and much younger looking person. Her secret? ChiLel. 'Niece, why don't you learn a self-healing art? You have suffered enough,' she said, embracing me. "Witnessing my aunt's recovery made my illnesses not seem so untouchable anymore. So, in my uncle's company, I came to the Center last month. Once at the Center, I felt as though I belonged here. All eyes seemed to tell me that they understood. In fact, many of us who had once floundered helplessly on the sea now were being saved by this ship. "With hope and newfound faith, I began to do the opposite of standard doctors' advice: 'get plenty of rest.' Pampering my illnesses no more, I did ChiLel until I was exhausted and then continued. No more drugs for me! I would rather die here with dignity than die slowly at home. "With such determination, I made great progress in a short time. After a month, my blood pressure increased to 80/120 and an EKG showed a normally functioning heart. Not only are there are no more swellings in my joints, but I can eat and sleep well. I feel great!" Ms. Wang smiled broadly. For her, life was more precious now than ever. Having once lost her health, she had found it again! |
